A course given Ian Shaw and Professor Kerstin Schultz (Liquid Architekten) at The University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt (h_da) culminated in the creation of a temporary pavilion to mark the 2012 Architecture Summer Rhein-Main (ASRM).

It was erected in front of the main station in the city and for the entire summer it provided a space for concerts, lectures, and workshops.

Made of timber, the 15-meter-long and 5.75-meter-high "StageCage" pavilion was specifically designed with two things in mind: to avoid offcuts as far as possible and to ensure it can be reused.

The stacks of wood on the longitudinal sides served as ballast to prevent the structure moving in the wind.

Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain made the pavilion possible.
